THE FISHERY WILL REOPEN FOR CHINOOK RETENTION EFFECTIVE
Saturday, September 22, 2007 |
|---|
|
The Joint States met today to review the status of the fall Chinook run sizes and review the recreational fishery impacts to the Upriver Bright fall Chinook run. The U.S. v Oregon Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) upgraded the Upriver Bright run size from 105,000 to 115,000 fish. This upgrade in run size allows for additional opportunity in this area of the Columbia River. The reduced area (Hood River bridge boundary) is in response to escapement needs at Spring Creek Hatchery. The States will continue to review run sizes and fisheries to determine if fisheries below Bonneville Dam can reopen to Chinook retention in the near future. |
