Dewey

A scenic 3 miles takes you to upper & lower Dewey Lakes. These are impressive alpine lakes sitting at over 5000 feet in elevation. With lots of open shoreline, anglers will find many spots to try for the plentiful pan-sized naturally reproducing Eastern Brook Trout. Spoons & spinners will draw their interest and dry flies may be even more effective. Some Rainbow Trout have also been stocked in recent years. The larger lake offers several well established campsites and is popular with both hikers and equestrians.

Getting here:

Accessed from 410/Chinook Pass - park in Tipsoo Lake lot. Cross 410 to Trail Head for #968-Dewey Lake. After approx 1.5 miles turn right on the PCT #2000 and continue another 1.3 miles to the lake.

Rainbow trout

Fishing success for Rainbow Trout is generally best in the spring when thousands of fish are stocked statewide, but they can be caught year-round in most waters with a little patience and persistence. Success remains high into June and gradually declines as water temperatures increase and fish move offshore to stay cool. Fish that escaped the spring harvest return to the nearshore areas in the fall as waters cool off. Some waters may also be stocked again in the fall further boosting catch rates.
