Tomyhoi

This lake is located only a couple miles from the Canadian border. It is accessed via the Mt. Baker highway, an old dirt road, and healthy hike up and over Gold Run Pass. This lake has a history of Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Eastern Brook Trout, so you might catch some of each species. Eight inch Eastern Brook Trout are the most common fish caught. There is good camping at the lake and there are excellent views along the trail.

Getting here:

Drive highway 542 towards the Mt Baker Ski area. Just before the highway crosses the North Fork Nooksack River and starts up seriously towards the ski area, there is a highway maintenance facility on the left side of the highway. At the east end of this facility is Forest Service Road 3065. You want to drive up this rough steep road for 4.25 miles to the trailhead at the switchback in the road. There is limited parking. The trail goes up 1800 feet to Gold Run Pass (ignore the side trail to Yellow Astor Butte on the way). Then it drops down 1720 feet to the lake.
