Located about two miles as the crow flies southwest of Tiger at 3,150 feet elevation in the Kaniksu National Forest, Carls Lake is open from the fourth Saturday in April through October 31. This lake was formerly called Browns Lake, and is still identified as such on some maps. Rainbow Trout fry and catchable plants at this productive lake produce yearlings nine to 11 inches and carryovers up to 14+ inches. Winterkill conditions can limit the success of this fishery.
Access is rough (which contributes to the good fishing!) by driving approximately 1.5 miles on USFS Road #510 from its junction with State Highway 20 about 4 miles west of Tiger.
Two-pole fishing is allowed
Shoreline access: Good - Shoreline access is decent.
