Jefferson Park Pond

This small pond in the city of Walla Walla is open only to juveniles (14 years of age and under). The pond is open year-round for fishing and it is stocked several times from late February to early June with with 10- to 12-inch rainbow trout. In addition, jumbo rainbow trout (over 1 lb each) are stocked and they can provide for some excitement if one of these larger fish is hooked and landed. Only two trout over 13 inches may be retained as part of the five trout daily limit on these ponds. This pond is becoming very shallow and stocking may be discontinued unless the outlet is properly screened and the depth and carrying capacity of the pond is enhanced soon.

Two-pole fishing is NOT allowed

Open for juvenile anglers, senior anglers and anglers with a disability who possess a designated harvester companion card only.

Shoreline access: Good - public park and full shoreline access

Rainbow trout

Fishing success for Rainbow Trout is generally best in the spring when thousands of fish are stocked statewide, but they can be caught year-round in most waters with a little patience and persistence. Success remains high into June and gradually declines as water temperatures increase and fish move offshore to stay cool. Fish that escaped the spring harvest return to the nearshore areas in the fall as waters cool off. Some waters may also be stocked again in the fall further boosting catch rates.
