Lake Umatilla stretches from John Day Dam to McNary Dam. It offers good fishing for Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, and other warmwater species. Sturgeon, Steelhead, salmon, and shad are also found in this pool of the Columbia River.
Boat launch facilities in Washington on Lake Umatilla (John Day Reservoir)are available at Plymouth, Paterson (primitive), Crow Butte Park, and Roosevelt. On the Oregon shore boat launch facilities are located at Umatilla, Irrigon, Paterson Ferry (shallow, primitive), Boardman, Arlington, and John Day River arm.
Two-pole fishing is NOT allowed
