Mattoon Lake is located near Ellensburg. It has a year-round season with excellent angling opportunities for 8- to 14-inch rainbow trout from early spring to summer. The lake is also stocked with jumbo rainbow trout (1-1.5 lbs each) in the spring.
Later in the fall, Mattoon is stocked with some large 6-12 lb rainbow trout broodstock. The lake has good bank fishing opportunity for those who do not have boats, although the lake can get quite weedy in the summer.
There is a boat launch, but internal combustion engines are prohibited. This is a great place to take the family for a fun fishing outing. No camping.
Two-pole fishing is allowed
Shoreline access: Good - Good WDFW shoreline access around the lake and a boat launch.
