Rainbow trout and resident cutthroat trout are available in and above the reservoir, and steelhead and anadromous (sea-run) cutthroat below it. Check the regulations pamphlet for seasons and rules.
There is access to the river above the reservoir by timber company road from Vail, but the road is often gated shut. Motorized vehicle use is restricted in timber lands surrounding the reservoir and the upper watershed.
