Swan Lake

Open year-round, Swan Lake is located about 10 miles southwest of Republic, up the Scatter Creek drainage, in the Colville National Forest just a few miles east of the Okanogan County line. This high-elevation (3,641 feet) lake is stocked annually with rainbow trout fry.

An improved U.S. Forest Service campground is located on the east shore. Motorized boats are not allowed.

To protect breeding common loons, it is unlawful to use lead weights or lead jigs that measure 1.5 inches or less along the longest axis

Two-pole fishing is allowed

Shoreline access: Good - Shoreline access is good around campground.

Fishing prospects calendar

Rainbow trout

Fishing success for Rainbow Trout is generally best in the spring when thousands of fish are stocked statewide, but they can be caught year-round in most waters with a little patience and persistence. Success remains high into June and gradually declines as water temperatures increase and fish move offshore to stay cool. Fish that escaped the spring harvest return to the nearshore areas in the fall as waters cool off. Some waters may also be stocked again in the fall further boosting catch rates.
