Abernathy Creek opens for the retention
of hatchery steelhead

Action: Open Abernathy Creek to hatchery steelhead retention.

Effective Dates: March 24 through April 30, 2012.

Species affected: Hatchery steelhead

Location: From mouth (Hwy.4 Bridge) to posted markers 500 feet below Abernathy Salmon Hatchery (Abernathy Fish Technology Center).

Reason for action: Steelhead in excess of hatchery brood stock needs is expected to be available for harvest.

Other information: Catch and release except up to two hatchery steelhead may be retained. Selective gear rules are in effect. Closed waters 400 ft. downstream to 200 ft. upstream of the temporary Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife adult fish weir near the mouth.
