Adult Chinook daily limit reduced on the Kalama River

March 3, 2021

Action: Reduces the adult salmon daily limit to 1 fish in the lower Kalama River.

Effective date: Effective March 5, 2021 until further notice.

Species affected: Salmon.

Location: From the mouth upstream to 1,000 feet below the fishway at the upper salmon hatchery (i.e. Kalama Falls Hatchery).

Rule: The salmon daily limit is 6 fish; up to 1 adult may be retained. Only hatchery Chinook and hatchery coho may be retained.

Reason for action: Managers need to reduce the adult salmon daily limit to ensure hatchery broodstock goals are achieved. Reducing the adult daily limit will provide continued opportunity for anglers to harvest spring Chinook and help ensure future hatchery returns.

Additional information: All other permanent rules remain in effect; please refer to the Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet for additional information.

Information contact: Region 5, 360-696-6211.
