Anglers may retain one un-clipped adult chinook
as part of their daily salmon limit in Brewster Pool
Action: Allow retention of one (1) un-clipped adult chinook salmon as part of the current salmon daily limit.
Effective date: July 27, 2017, 12:01 a.m. until further notice.
Area: From the Highway 173 bridge at Brewster upstream to the Highway 17 bridge at Bridgeport.
Reason for action: Current estimates of un-clipped (wild) adult chinook salmon returning to the Okanogan River exceed spawner escapement needs. Approximately 2,000 wild adult chinook are available for harvest by recreational sport anglers.
Other information:
WDFW will be monitoring wild adult chinook harvest closely and may shut this fishery down on short notice.
Anglers are advised to check the fishing hotline at 360-902-2500 or the WDFW’s website daily (https://fortress.wa.gov/dfw/erules/efishrules/).
The daily salmon limit in the Brewster Pool is still four (4). This area remains closed for sockeye salmon. Check the 2017-2018 sport fishing rules pamphlet for complete details.
Anglers are required to possess a Columbia River Salmon/Steelhead Endorsement as part of their valid fishing license.
Information contact: Chad Jackson, Region 2 Fish Program Manager, Ephrata, (509) 754-4624 ext. 250 or Ryan Fortier, District 6 Fish Biologist, Twisp, (509) 997-0316.
