November 10, 2022
Action: Allows use of bait.
Location: Skagit River from mouth to Cascade River Rd (Marblemount Bridge).
Effective date: Nov. 12, through Nov. 30, 2022.
Species affected: All species.
Rules:
- All species (other than salmon): Open under rules listed in 2022-23 Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet, except night closure in effect. Use of bait is allowed.
- Salmon: Min. size 12”. Daily limit 2 coho. Release all other salmon. Night closure in effect. Use of bait is allowed.
Reason for action: Recent spawning ground surveys indicate Chinook spawning activities have concluded, with very few live Chinook still present in the system. Bait restrictions previously in place to protect returning Chinook are no longer necessary.
Additional information: Fisheries are actively monitored by WDFW. Anglers are asked to cooperate with creel personnel collecting catch information. Monitoring and evaluation of fisheries is an important part of ensuring we are meeting our conservation goals for salmon.
In-season closure, reopening, or other management actions will be announced as soon as possible. Please consider downloading the FishWA app or signing up for fishery change notifications by email at https://wdfw.wa.gov/about/lists.
