Baker Lake sockeye fishery closes Sept. 19

Action: Baker Lake closes for sockeye fishing.

Effective date: One hour after official sunset, Sept. 19, 2010.

Species affected: Sockeye salmon.

Location: Baker Lake, upstream of the log boom barrier in front of Upper Baker Dam, upstream to the mouth of the Baker River.

Reasons for action: Most of the sockeye currently in the lake have migrated toward or into spawning areas and are no longer available to anglers.

Other information: Trout and other game fish seasons will continue. Adult Sockeye are defined as any sockeye over the minimum length of 18 inches. Please see the Sport fishing Rules 2010/2011 pamphlet edition, FISHING IN WASHINGTON, for a complete listing of fishing seasons and regulations.
