Bear Creek ? Guler County Park to close for
Youth Fishing Event
Action: Closes the netted area and 200 feet either side of the netted area in Bear Creek located inside Guler County Park.
Effective dates:
June 13 - 12:01 a.m., netted area and 200 feet either side, Bear Creek inside Guler County Park
June 14 - netted area open only to participants in the youth fishing event. The event runs from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Area will re-open at 4:00 p.m.
Species affected: All species
Location: Bear Creek, inside Guler County Park, Trout Lake, Klickitat County
Reasons for action: This rule change is necessary to assure a safe and successful youth fishing event. The fish will be planted one day prior to the event to acclimate them before the event. Several hundred fish will placed into a netted area along the creek. Closing this section of the creek will ensure these fish are available the following day for the youth event. On the day of the event, kids will be allowed to fish within this netted area. The area will not open to the general public until 4:00 p.m. on June 14, 2008.
Keeping the creek closed until 4:00 p.m. June 14 is necessary to ensure safety for the public as well as the event participants while the event is shutting down and equipment it being removed.
