Action: Closes Blackman's Lake to fishing one day prior to a Snohomish Sportsmen's Club juvenile fishing derby, as well as the day of the event until 12:00 p.m. The area will re-open to all anglers at 12:01 p.m., June 7.
Effective dates:
· 10:00 a.m. on June 6, to 7:59 a.m. on June 7, 2008 Blackman's Lake closed to all fishing.
· June 7, 2008: Blackman's Lake will open only to participants in the juvenile fishing derby from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Blackman's Lake will reopen to all anglers at 12:01 p.m.
Species affected: All game fish.
Location: Blackman's Lake (Snohomish County) within the City of Snohomish
Reasons for action: Approximately one day prior to the juvenile fishing derby, hundreds of trout will be stocked into Blackman's Lake. To maximize juvenile catch rates Blackman's Lake will close at 10:00 a.m. on June 6, 2008 to assure a successful event.
Other information: The Snohomish Sportsmen's club has hosted this juvenile fishing derby at Blackman's Lake for the past 40+ years. Parents interested in signing up their children can register them at the public access and Hill Park between 7:00-8:00 a.m. on June 7.
