Changes to ocean salmon fishery

August 8, 2013

Action: Anglers will be limited to one chinook as part of their two-salmon daily limit, plus two additional pink salmon, in marine areas 3 (LaPush) and 4 (Neah Bay). Anglers must release wild coho in both areas, while those fishing Marine Area 4 also must release chum. Anglers fishing east of the Bonilla-Tatoosh line must release all chinook.

Effective Date: Aug. 10, 2013.

Species affected: Chinook salmon.

Location: Catch Record Card Areas 3 (LaPush) and 4 (Neah Bay).

Reason for action: Catch Record Card Areas 3 and 4 are nearing their chinook guidelines and the change to the daily limit will slow the chinook catch.

Other information: Until Aug.10, the daily limit in the LaPush and Neah Bay areas is two salmon, plus two additional pink salmon; release wild coho; release chum in Marine Area 4; release chinook east of the Bonilla-Tatoosh line.
