Changes in possession limits for halibut caught in Canada

Action: Recreational possession limits for Pacific halibut caught in Canadian waters have changed for 2008 as follows:

April 1-May 31: Daily limit of one; possession limit of two.
June 1-Dec 31: Daily limit of two; possession limit of two.

Effective date: 12:01 a.m., April 1, 2008.

Species affected: Pacific halibut caught in Canadian waters.

Location: Possession limits apply to all halibut caught in Canadian waters and landed into the United Sates.

Reason for action: In order to manage recreational halibut allocations, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO), Canada has implemented possession limit changes for the 2008 recreational Pacific halibut fishery.
