Chinook daily limit reduced after March 5 in Marine Area 9

March 4, 2013

Action: Reduces daily limit to 1 salmon in Area 9.

Effective Date: Effective 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013 through 11:59 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013.

Species affected: Chinook salmon.

Location: Marine Area 9 (Admiralty Inlet).

Reason for action: Preliminary estimates indicate that encounters with legal size hatchery and wild Chinook have exceeded the preseason expectations which were set to ensure compliance with conservation objectives and agreed-to management plans. The fishery is being modified to control impacts on stocks of concern.

Other information: Reduces daily limit to one salmon in Area 9, including the Edmonds Fishing Pier. Release wild Chinook except at Edmonds Fishing Pier. Anglers should consult the Fishing in Washington, Sports Fishing Rules pamphlet for specific regulations for the Edmonds Fishing Pier.
