August 2, 2013
Action: Reduces chinook daily limit to 1 in Area 10. Sinclair Inlet and Elliot Bay fisheries remain unaffected.
Effective Date: Effective 12:01 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, through 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013.
Species affected: Chinook salmon.
Location: Marine Area 10 (Bremerton/Seattle), except Sinclair Inlet Fishery, Elliot Bay Fishery, Elliott Bay Fishing Pier, Seacrest Pier, Waterman Pier, Bremerton Boardwalk, and Illahee State Park Pier.
Reason for action: Preliminary estimates indicate that encounters with legal size hatchery and wild (unmarked) chinook are projected to exceed the preseason expectations prior to the end of the season. The fishery is being modified to control impacts on stocks of concern and ensure compliance with conservation objectives and agreed-to management plans; and ensure the fishery will run through Aug. 31.
Other information: Daily limit remains at 2 salmon plus 2 additional pink, with no more than 1 chinook. Release wild chinook and chum. Anglers should consult the Fishing in Washington, Sports Fishing Rules pamphlet for specific regulations in these areas:
Shilshole Bay remains closed to salmon fishing. Elliott Bay remains closed except as specified.
Elliott Bay Fishing Pier, Seacrest Pier, Waterman Pier, Bremerton Boardwalk, and Illahee State Park Pier are regulated under separate rules.
