Chum salmon retention opens in Marine Area 10

Action: Opens chum salmon retention

Effective date: Immediately through Oct. 31, 2022

Species affected: Chum salmon

Location: Marine Area 10, except Sinclair Inlet and Port Orchard fishery area.

Rules: Salmon daily limit 2. No minimum size. Release Chinook salmon.

Reason for action: The in-season estimate of chum salmon returns to Puget Sound indicate that there are sufficient returning numbers to allow for recreational harvest. Chum salmon will be included as part of the daily limit for salmon in Marine Area 10.

Additional Information: The Sinclair Inlet and Port Orchard fishery area remains closed to chum salmon retention. It is defined as the waters of Sinclair Inlet and Port Orchard south of the Manette Bridge in Bremerton, south of a line drawn true west from Battle Point, and west of a line drawn true south from Point White.
