chinook sport fishery set to close one day early


Action: Fishing for spring chinook on the mainstem Columbia below Bonneville Dam will be closed beginning 11:59 p.m. April 8.

Species affected: Chinook, steelhead, and shad.

Effective dates: 11:59 p.m. April 8, 2016, until further notice.

Location: Mainstem Columbia from Buoy 10 upstream to Bonneville Dam

Other information: Permanent regulations for steelhead and shad will be in effect.

Reason for action: The fishery is expected to reach its pre-season allocation of upriver mortalities (kept and released) prior to the scheduled closure date of April 9.
