Action: Hatchery adult summer chinook and steelhead may be retained on the lower mainstem Columbia below Bonneville Dam.

Species affected: Hatchery chinook and sockeye

Effective dates: June 16 through July 6, 2015

Location: Mainstem Columbia from the Astoria-Megler Bridge upstream to Bonneville Dam.

Other information: The salmon and steelhead daily limit is 6 fish. Up to 2 may be adult salmon or hatchery steelhead or one of each. Release all salmon other than hatchery chinook and sockeye. Sockeye are part of the adult salmon daily limit.

Staff will monitor the fishery and potentially modify the July portion of the fishery, which may include extending the season or allowing retention of any adult chinook.

Reason for action: This will implement new permanent rules recently adopted during the North of Falcon Process. Hatchery adult summer chinook and sockeye are available for harvest.
