summer chinook extension and limit change

Action: Extends salmon angling through July 31 on the mainstem Columbia River downstream of Bonneville Dam. Beginning July 3, from the Astoria-Megler Bridge upstream to the Oregon/Washington border, as part of the daily limit any chinook may be retained, but only one may be an adult chinook.

Species affected: Summer chinook

Area: The mainstem Columbia River from the Astoria-Megler Bridge upstream to the Oregon/Washington border.

Restrictions: Barbless hooks are required.

Effective date: July 3 through July 31, 2015.

Daily limit: Daily salmonid limit is 6 fish; minimum size is 12 inches. Up to 2 may be adult salmon or hatchery steelhead or 1 of each. Only 1 may be an adult chinook. Any chinook (adipose fin clipped or not) may be kept. Sockeye are included in the daily adult salmonid limit.

Reason for action: Harvestable numbers of summer chinook remain available based on the updated forecast, associated management agreements, and harvest estimates to date.
