Columbia River Estuary sturgeon season extended three days

Action: Allows sturgeon retention on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Effective dates: July 24 through July 26, 2009.

Species affected: White sturgeon.

Location: The mainstem Columbia River and adjacent tributaries from Buoy 10 upstream to the Wauna powerline crossing at Rivermile 40 near Cathlamet.

Other Information: Catch and release fishing will continue to be allowed on days not open to retention. The size limits are 41 to 54 inches fork length.

Reason for action: Additional white sturgeon remain on the annual harvest guideline for the area below Wauna. This rule is consistent with joint state action taken by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife July 21, 2009.
