Columbia River salmon and steelhead anglers must use barbless hooks from the WA/OR border downstream.

Action: Barbless hooks are mandatory when fishing for salmon or steelhead.

Effective date: March 1, 2020 until further notice.

Location: From the mouth to Hwy. 730 at WA/OR border.

Species affected: Salmon and steelhead.

Reason for action: Recent director agreements between WDFW and ODFW align the two state's regulations on barbless hooks through 2020 season when fishing for salmon and steelhead.
