April 20, 2018
Effective date: March 16 through May 7, 2018
Area: Tower Island power lines (approximately 6 miles below The Dalles Dam) upstream to Oregon/Washington border plus the Oregon and Washington banks between Bonneville Dam and the Tower Island power lines (except for those waters closed under permanent regulations).
Daily limit: Daily limit is 2 adipose fin clipped salmonids (hatchery chinook or hatchery steelhead), of which no more than 1 may be an adult chinook. Release all wild chinook and wild steelhead. Salmon minimum size: 12 inches.
Supplemental Information
Effective date: March 16 through May 15, 2018
On days and in areas open to fishing for hatchery (adipose clipped) spring chinook, fishing for adipose fin clipped steelhead from Buoy 10 upstream to the Highway 395 bridge and shad from Buoy 10 to Bonneville Dam (except for those waters closed under permanent regulations) is allowed.
Reason for action: This action provides additional recreational angling opportunity while taking a conservative approach as more information about spring Chinook run size comes available. Fishery assessment has sufficient catch allocation remaining for the lower river for additional opportunity. Fish passage at Bonneville Dam is low and will continue to be monitored very closely to determine if any additional re-openings are to occur again. Rules is consistent with the Compact Action of February 21, 2018 and April 11, 2018.
