June 24, 2021
Action: Restores the salmon fishing seasons and daily limits described in the 2020-2021 Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet.
Effective date: June 26, 2021.
Species affected: Salmon.
Location: Waters of the Cowlitz River, Cispus River, and Lake Scanewa
Reason for action: Salmon retention on the Cowlitz River was closed earlier in the year to help ensure that the spring Chinook broodstock collection goal was achieved. Adult broodstock collection is on track and the goal is expected to be met, therefore a reopening of retention for hatchery salmon is warranted.
Additional information: The posted fishing boundary markers below the Barrier Dam at the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery will remain at the standard 400-foot boundary downstream of the fish ladder entrance. All other permanent rules including closed waters rules remain in effect.
