Daily limit increased for adult fall chinook at Drano
Lake; weekly closures rescinded

Action: Up to 4 adult chinook may be retained and anglers may fish seven days per week.

Species affected: Chinook

Effective dates: Oct. 11 through Dec. 31, 2013.

Location: Drano Lake downstream of markers on point of land downstream and across from Little White Salmon National Fish Hatchery and upstream of Hwy. 14 Bridge.

Daily limits: The salmon daily limit is six fish. Up to 4 may be adult salmon of which no more than 2 may be coho. Any salmon, adipose fin clipped or not, may be retained.

Other information: The closures from 6 pm Tuesdays to 6 pm Wednesdays during October have been rescinded. Anglers may fish 7 days per week.

Under existing permanent rules, anglers may fish with two poles with a Two Pole Endorsement through the end of the year. In addition, the anti-snagging rule will remain in effect.

Anglers must have a current Washington fishing license as well as a Columbia River Salmon and Steelhead Endorsement (CRSSE). Revenue from the CRSSE supports salmon or steelhead seasons on many rivers in the Columbia River system.

Reason for action: Returns of fall chinook to the Columbia River have reached record high numbers, including bright stock fall chinook returning to Drano Lake. Little White Salmon National Fish Hatchery has met its escapement goal for bright stock fall chinook. Large numbers of surplus hatchery origin fall chinook are available for harvest.

The weekly nightly closures in October are no longer needed for tribal commercial fisheries as none are currently scheduled.
