Dungeness and Gray Wolf rivers close to fishing due to low water conditions

October 13, 2022

Action: Closes all fishing.

Effective date: Oct. 16, 2022, until further notice.

Species affected: All species.

Locations:

  • Dungeness River (Clallam Co.); from the mouth upstream.
  • Gray Wolf River (Clallam Co.); from the mouth upstream.

Reason for action: Unseasonably dry weather has resulted in extreme low water conditions in the Dungeness River system. This closure is necessary to protect fish that are unable to move upstream to their spawning grounds as well as existing Chinook redds.

Additional information: Fishery co-managers will continue to monitor river conditions and escapement for greater certainty that spawning needs will be met before re-opening.

Anglers can be notified of in-season rule changes as they are announced by signing up for WDFW Regulation Updates at wdfw.wa.gov/about/lists.
