Dungeness River to re-open Nov. 15
to fishing for hatchery coho salmon

Action: The Dungeness River will re-open to salmon fishing.

Effective date: Nov. 15 through Nov. 30, 2017.

Species affected: Hatchery coho salmon.

Location: The Dungeness River downstream of the hatchery intake pipe.

Reason for action: WDFW recently closed the Dungeness to salmon fishing in an effort to meet hatchery egg take goals. Recent rains brought sufficient coho to the Dungeness Hatchery to satisfy broodstock needs.

Further Information: The Dungeness River will re-open to salmon fishing per the rules listed in the “Sport Fishing Rules” pamphlet.

Information contact: Region 6 Office, (360) 249-4628.

Fishers must have a current Washington fishing license, appropriate to the fishery. Check the WDFW "Fishing in Washington" rules pamphlet for details on definitions and regulations. Fishing rules are subject to change. Visit wdfw.wa.gov/fishing-hotlines to find a list of mobile, web, print, or customer service phone options for the latest rule information.
