August 12, 2005
Action: Closes Elliott Bay to salmon fishing August 13 through August 23
Effective dates: 12:01 a.m. August 13 through August 23, 2005
Species affected: Salmon
Location: Waters of Elliott Bay east of a line from West Point to Alki Point, including the Duwamish Waterway upstream to the 1st Avenue South Bridge.
Reasons for action: Based on state and tribal fisheries, the number of chinook returning to the Green River system appears to be well below the pre-season forecast and additional fishing could result in not meeting the escapement goal.
Other information: All other rules and regulations for the remaining portions of Area 10 remain in effect as listed in the Fishing in Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet. All of Elliott Bay will re-open for coho and pink fishing, with a requirement to release chinook, beginning August 24th. The Elliott Bay Fishing Pier at Terminal 86 and the Seacrest Pier remain open to salmon fishing (see regulations pamphlet).
