Elochoman and West and East Fork Grays
River open for chinook salmon
Action: Chinook may be retained as part of daily limit in Elochoman River and West and East Fork Grays River.
Effective date: June 17, 2003 through August 31, 2003.
Species affected: Chinook salmon
Location: Elochoman River from the Highway 5 Bridge upstream to the Elochoman Hatchery Bridge. Grays River, West Fork, from mouth to hatchery intake/footbridge and Grays River East Fork.
Reason for action: Adult spring chinook straying from Select Area Fishery Evaluation sites are entering the Elochoman River and may enter the Grays River. These fish are not needed for broodstock and may be retained by anglers who are fishing for steelhead.
Other information: Chinook, with or without an adipose fin clip may be retained. On the East Fork of the Grays River, selective gear rules are in effect. Daily limit is six salmon, no more than two adults. Minimum size is 12".
