Fishing to close on Hoko River
downstream from the hatchery
Action: Close to fishing - from boats and both banks - the portion of the Hoko River from the hatchery fish ladder downstream for 100 feet.
Effective Dates: Dec. 3 through Dec. 31, 2012
Species affected: Returning adult steelhead
Location: Hoko River at the Makah tribal fish hatchery
Reason for action: The Hoko Hatchery is far short of broodstock program needs. Closing the portion of the river outside the fish ladder will allow steelhead to aggregate outside the ladder and move up into the facility without disturbance from fishing activity.
Other information: The closed portion of the bank area on the northwest side of the Hoko River (opposite the hatchery) is the bank area between the posted signs.
Information Contact: Mike Gross; (360) 249-1210.
