Fishing closure for the Hoh,
South Fork Hoh rivers
Action: Sport fishing closure in the Hoh and South Fork Hoh Rivers
Effective dates: April 3, 2008.
Species affected: All species
Location: The Hoh River from the mouth to the Olympic National Park boundary below the mouth of the South Fork Hoh. The South Fork Hoh River from its mouth to Olympic National Park boundary.
Reasons for action: In order to meet the wild steelhead escapement goal for the Hoh River (2,400), the State's sport fishery must close earlier than expected. The entire Hoh and South Fork Hoh will be closed to all sport fishing to avoid incidental impacts to wild steelhead.
Other information: The closure of the Hoh and South Fork Hoh Rivers to all sport fishing is being implemented jointly by the Washington Dept. of Fish and Wildlife and the National Park Service for those fisheries under their jurisdiction.
