April 27, 2018
Action: Delays the opening date for fishing in Curl Lake from the fourth Saturday in April (April 28) to the Saturday before Memorial Day (May 26).
Dates: April 28 through May 25, 2018.
Location: Curl Lake (Columbia County)
Species affected: Trout and other game fish.
Reason for action: Curl Lake has been utilized by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) as an acclimation pond for Tucannon River spring chinook salmon, which are listed under the Endangered Species Act. Beginning in 2016, WDFW began a short-term acclimation of ESA-listed Tucannon River steelhead, after the spring chinook have been released. The additional time needed to acclimate steelhead will delay the stocking of rainbow trout into this body of water by a couple of weeks.
Other Information: Anglers should note that once the lake is open to fishing on the Saturday before Memorial Day, the regulations will be the same as those listed in the pamphlet. Anglers should refer to the Washington sport fishing rules pamphlet for regulations.
