Fishing restrictions removed on select Yakima Basin Rivers

September 18, 2015

Actions: Remove fishing restrictions on American River, Swauk Creek, Williams Creek and all other Swauk Creek tributaries

Effective date: Immediately

Species affected: All gamefish (trout, whitefish, etc.)

Locations:
American River from: from the mouth to Hwy. 410 Bridge downstream of the USFS Hell’s Crossing Campground (river mile 5.4), and upstream of the Mesatchee Creek Trail crossing at river mile 15.8

Swauk Creek and all tributaries, including Williams Creek

Reason for action: Cooler weather and recent precipitation in the Cascades have reduced water temperatures. Environmental conditions now support removing hoot-owl restrictions.

The following waters will remain closed to all fishing:

Ahtanum Creek, including North and Middle Forks

Little Naches River

Teanaway River, including West, Middle and North Forks
