Fishing on Skagit River from Highway 9 Bridge in Sedro Woolley to below Baker River reopens immediately

July 12, 2022

Action: Reopens a section of the Skagit River to all fishing.

Effective date: Immediately.

Species affected: All species.

Location: Skagit River (Skagit County) from the Highway 9 Bridge in Sedro Woolley to 200 feet downstream of the mouth of the Baker River.

Rule: Reopen to all fishing as described in the 2022-2023 Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet.

Reason for action: This area of the Skagit River was previously closed July 11 and 12 to all fishing to avoid conflicts during scheduled treaty fisheries. The treaty fisheries have concluded so the closure is no longer necessary.

Additional information: Sockeye fisheries are open from Highway 536 Bridge to the Dalles Bridge.

Gamefish seasons are open as described in the 2022/2023 Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet.

The area around the mouth of the Baker River (from 200 feet downstream to 200 feet upstream) is closed to all fishing under permanent rules listed in the Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet.

In-season closures, reopenings, or other management actions will be announced as soon as possible. Consider downloading the FishWA app at https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/regulations/app or signing up for fishery change notifications by email at https://wdfw.wa.gov/about/lists.
