Fishing will open March 1 on
Downs, Liberty and Medical lakes

Action: Open Downs, Liberty and Medical Lakes to angling on March 1, 2008. Gear and harvest restrictions remain the same as those published in the 2007/2008 WDFW "Fishing in Washington" rules pamphlet.

Effective dates: March 1 through April 30, 2008.

Species affected: All species.

Locations: Downs Lake (Spokane Co.), Liberty Lake (Spokane Co.) and Medical Lake (Spokane Co.)

Reason for action: The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission has approved a regulation change beginning May 1, 2008 to change the opening date for these lakes from the last Saturday in April to March 1. To make the March opening date effective this year, the director of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife approved an emergency order bridging the period between March 1 and May 1.

Information contact: Chris Donley, District 2 Fisheries Biologist, WDFW Spokane Regional Office (509) 892-1001.
