Grays River to open for hatchery spring
chinook beginning May 14
Action: The Grays River will open to fishing for hatchery spring chinook beginning Saturday, May 14.
Effective Dates: May 14 through July 31, 2005.
Species affected: Hatchery chinook salmon.
Location: Grays River from mouth to South Fork and West Fork Grays River From mouth to hatchery intake/footbridge.
Reason for action: Adult spring chinook straying from Select Area Fishery Evaluation sites are entering the Grays River. These fish are not needed for brood stock.
Other information: The daily limit is 6 hatchery salmon, no more than 2 may be adults. Wild chinook must be released. Minimum size is 12 inches. This regulation change is for salmon only. Regulations for other species, including steelhead, are the same as those listed on page 40 of the 2005/2006 sport fishing rules pamphlet.
