Klineline Pond fishing closure for
Fishing Kid’s Event
Action: Closes Klineline Pond to fishing by the public April 16 through April 18th.
Effective date:
April 16 - 12:01 a.m., entire pond closed to public fishing except to participants in the Fishing Kid's Event.
April 17- pond closed
April 18 - pond open to participants in the Fishing Kid's Event
April 19 - pond reopens to the public
Location: Klineline Pond is located at Salmon Creek Park, Vancouver Washington
Reason for action: This rule change is necessary to assure a safe and successful Fishing Kid's event. The fish will be planted two days prior to the event to better acclimate them before the event. Several thousand fish will be placed into netted areas along the shoreline of the pond. On the day of the event, pre-registered kids will be allowed to fish within these netted areas.
The reason for keeping the pond closed after the event is to ensure the safety of the public as well as the event participants while the event is shutting down and equipment and nets are being removed.
Other Information: The Fishing Kid's event has been held at Klineline Pond for the past eight years. Prior to this, the event was sponsored by the local community. The event this year will bring in over 1200 registered kids as well as their families, friends and general members of the public.
Information Contact: Stacie Kelsey, Inland Fish Program 360-906-6706.
