Klineline Pond fishing closure
for Hooked on Fishing Event
Action: Closes Klineline Pond to fishing by the public one day prior to the fishing event as well as the day of the event.
Effective date:
April 30 - 12:01 a.m., entire pond closed to public fishing
May 1 - Pond open to participants in the Hooked on Fishing event.
May 2 - Pond opens to the public
Species affected: All species
Location: Klineline Pond is located at Salmon Creek Park in Vancouver, Wash.
Reason for action: This rule change is necessary to assure a safe and successful event. The fish will be planted one day prior to the event to better acclimate them before the event. Fish will be placed into netted areas along the shoreline of the pond. On the day of the event, participants will be allowed to fish within these netted areas. The pond will not open to the public until May 2.
The reason for keeping the pond closed until May 2 is to ensure safety for the public as well as the event participants while the event is shutting down and equipment and nets are being removed. We will have several hundred feet of nets that will be pulled from the shoreline area.
Other Information: This is the second annual event sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America as a way of recruiting kids into the Scouts. Boys and girls are welcome to participate in the event. For information on how to register for this event go to: www.cpcbsa.org/register scroll down the page to find the Klineline Pond Hooked on Fishing Derby. The event is limited to the first 700 kids.
