Lewis River Power Canal opens April 28

Action: Open the Lewis River Power Canal from the fishing pier upstream to the access road at Swift Dam on April 28.

Effective Date: April 28, 2007

Species affected: all game fish.

Location: The Lewis River Power Canal is located in Skamania County west of Swift Reservoir.

Reasons for action: A permanent rule has been adopted to open this fishery through October 31 but it does not take effect until May 1. This emergency rule will allow anglers to fish in the Lewis River Power Canal on Opening Day of the lowland lake season.

Other information: Fishing from a floating device is prohibited. Trout: no minimum size, daily limit 5. Statewide rules apply for other game fish. The old Lewis River streambed between Swift #1 Powerhouse and Swift #2 Powerhouse is closed to fishing.
