Lower Cascade River to open daily

October 8, 2024

Action: Opens a portion of the Cascade River to fishing seven days per week.

Effective date: Oct. 9 through Oct. 31, 2024.

Species affected: All species.

Location: Cascade River (Skagit County) from mouth to Rockport-Cascade Road Bridge.

Rules:

  • All species: Anti-snagging rules and night closure in effect.
  • Dolly Varden/bull trout: Minimum size 20 inches. May be retained as part of the trout daily limit.
  • Other trout: Statewide minimum size/daily limit. Except: Cutthroat trout and wild rainbow trout minimum size 14 inches.
  • Other gamefish: Statewide minimum size/daily limit.
  • Salmon: Daily limit four. Minimum size 12 inches. Release all salmon other than coho.

Reason for action: Treaty fisheries for coho in this section of the Cascade River have concluded for the season. Therefore, Sunday through Tuesday closures are no longer necessary to avoid gear conflicts between recreational anglers and treaty fishers.

Additional information: Anglers are asked to cooperate with creel personnel collecting catch information. Monitoring and evaluation of fisheries is an important part of ensuring we are meeting our conservation goals for salmon.

Information contact: Mill Creek Regional Office, 425-775-1311.
