July 15, 2013
Action: Allows sockeye retention in the ongoing recreational fishery downstream of Bonneville Dam.
Effective dates: 12:01 a.m., July 13, 2013 through July 31, 2013.
Species affected: Sockeye salmon
Daily bag limit: Daily salmonid limit is 6 fish (hatchery chinook jacks or sockeye or hatchery steelhead), of which no more than 2 may be sockeye or hatchery steelhead, or one of each.
Location: Columbia River from the Astoria-Megler Bridge upstream to Bonneville Dam.
Reason for action: The Columbia River Technical Advisory Committee upgraded the sockeye run size which provided for a larger allocation to the non-treaty fishery below the Snake River. This season modification was adopted July 10, 2013 at the joint Washington-Oregon public hearing.
Other information: The Columbia River downstream from Bonneville Dam remains closed to the retention of adult chinook. Barbless hooks required.
