Marine Area 1 (Ilwaco) reopens to
retention of chinook salmon

Action: Reopens Marine Area 1 to the retention of chinook.

Effective dates: September 17, 2005 through September 30

Species affected: Chinook

Location: Marine Area 1 from Cape Falcon, Oregon to Leadbetter Point, Washington

Reason for action: Angler effort has significantly decreased in Columbia River mouth and adjacent open ocean waters. As a result the Chinook remaining in the overall sport quota are enough to allow Chinook retention in Marine Area 1.

Other information: Harvestable numbers of chinook remain in the overall chinook quota to allow chinook retention in Marine Areas 1, 2, 3, & 4.
