Marine Area 9 hatchery chinook salmon retention re-opens

Action: Allows retention of hatchery Chinook salmon in Catch Record Area 9 from Aug. 12 through Aug. 15. Closes all salmon fishing in Area 9 south of a line from Foulweather Bluff to Olele Point through Aug. 15.

Effective dates: Aug. 12 through Aug. 15, 2008.

Species affected: Chinook salmon.

Location: Catch Record Area 9, Admiralty Inlet.

Reasons for action: Catch rates were considerably lower than projected through the weekend leaving additional fish available for harvest.

Other Information: Hatchery Chinook salmon can be retained as part of the salmon daily limit. Release wild cho and chum. Wild Chinook must be released, except at the Edmonds Fishing Pier. The area south of a line from Foulweather Bluff to Olele Point closes to all salmon fishing from Aug. 12 through Aug.15. The Edmonds Fishing Pier is regulated under separate rules. Anglers should consult the Fishing in Washington, Sports Fishing Rules pamphlet for specific regulations for the Edmonds Fishing Pier.
