March 10, 2016
Action: Delays opening date of Curl Lake from April 23 to May 15, 2016.
Dates: April 23 through May 14, 2016
Species affected: Trout and other game fish.
Location: Curl Lake (Columbia Co.)
Reason for action: Curl Lake has been utilized by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) as an acclimation pond for Endangered Species Act Listed Tucannon River spring chinook salmon. Beginning in 2016, WDFW will also short term acclimate ESA listed Tucannon River steelhead, after the spring chinook have been released. The additional time needed to acclimate steelhead will delay the stocking of rainbow trout into this body of water by a couple of weeks.
Other Information: Anglers should note that once the lake is open to fishing on May 15 the regulations will be the same as those listed in the pamphlet and should refer to the 2015/2016 Fishing in Washington sport fishing rules pamphlet.
