Portion of Wallace River closes to all fishing

September 8, 2022

Action: Closes all fishing.

Effective date: Sept. 16 through Nov. 30.

Species affected: All species.

Location: Wallace River (Snohomish Co.); from the mouth (farthest downstream RR bridge) to Wallace Falls

Reason for action: Wallace River is experiencing very low flows and salmon are not able to move upstream into the hatchery. Chinook holding downstream of the hatchery are vulnerable to low water conditions and increased fishing pressure, impacting essential broodstock collection.

Additional information: WDFW will evaluate reopening once conditions improve and broodstock goals for Chinook and coho are assured.

Anglers can be notified of any in-season rules changes as they are announced by signing up for WDFW regulation updates at wdfw.wa.gov/about/lists.
