Action: Open recreational halibut seasons in Marine Areas 5-11 and 13
The recreational halibut fishery in Marine Catch Area 5 will open on May 26, 2005, and continue through 11:59 p.m. July 31, 2005, five days per week, closed to fishing for halibut from 12:01 a.m. of each Tuesday through 11:59 p.m. of each Wednesday.
The recreational halibut fishery in Marine Catch Areas 6 through 11 and 13 will open on April 14, 2005, and continue through 11:59 p.m. June 20, 2005, five days per week, closed to fishing for halibut from 12:01 a.m. of each Tuesday through 11:59 p.m. of each Wednesday.
The recreational halibut fishery in Marine Catch Area 12 (Hood Canal) will remain closed again this year due to low oxygen levels in the area.
For all areas, the daily limit is one halibut per person and the possession limit is two daily limits of halibut in any form, except the possession limit aboard a fishing vessel is one daily limit.
Effective dates: Marine Areas 6-11 and 13 (April 14-June 20, 2005)

Species affected: Pacific Halibut

Reasons for action: The Department estimates that there is sufficient halibut quota for the Puget Sound subarea to provide the recreational fishing opportunity described.
